The next seminar in the TalTech AI Open Seminar series will be led by Associate Professor Tanel Alumäe, Head of the Laboratory of Language Technology. He will give a talk on “Advances in Speech Recognition, Translation & Multi-Speaker AI”. Seminar will take place on Tuesday, May 6th at 14:00-15:30, in room SOC-311 (Ehitajate tee 5, Tallinn).
The talk will present recent advances in speech recognition, translation, and multi-speaker AI, highlighting how modern models achieve impressive accuracy even for smaller languages like Estonian. We will discuss the remaining challenges, such as multi-speaker conversations and streaming translation, and show how large language models are opening new possibilities. The talk will also showcase real-world applications developed by the Language Technology Research Group, freely available for broader use.
