We are pleased to invite all TalTech academic staff and AI enthusiasts to the next TalTech AI monthly research seminar, taking place on Tuesday, 3 February, 16:00–17:00 in room SOC-310.
This session will feature a talk by Vladimir Kuts, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The presentation is titled: “XR-Powered Human–Robot Interaction: From Factory Floors to Healthcare”
In his talk, Vladimir Kuts will discuss the evolution of extended reality (XR) research, tracing its development from virtual reality–based robot visualization to teleoperation and advanced forms of human–robot interaction. He will focus on how XR technologies enable the safe testing of industrial robotic solutions and support the systematic study of control strategies and user interfaces for robot operation.
The presentation will cover the evaluation of XR-based control interfaces across a range of robotic platforms, including industrial manipulators, quadruped robot dogs, and humanoid robots, with the aim of identifying designs that allow for the most effective, intuitive, and safe human control. In addition, the talk will explore how these approaches can be transferred from industrial settings to healthcare applications. The Industrial VR&AR Lab is taking initial steps in this interdisciplinary field, bridging industrial and healthcare domains through XR-enabled human–robot collaboration.
The talk will be followed by a discussion and networking over coffee and light refreshments. The presentation will be held in English and streamed via Teams, however, we warmly encourage in-person participation to take part in the discussion and connect with fellow AI researchers and enthusiasts at TalTech.
