{"id":4358,"date":"2024-11-11T18:06:29","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T16:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ai.taltech.ee\/?page_id=4358"},"modified":"2025-09-02T08:15:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T08:15:08","slug":"taltech-ai-center-of-excellence","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ai.taltech.ee\/en\/taltech-ai-center-of-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"TalTech AI Center of Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The TalTech AI Center of Excellence (FTK) is a unit established in 2024 by the <a href=\"https:\/\/taltech.ee\/en\/school-of-information-technologies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Information Technology<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/taltech.ee\/en\/department-of-software-science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Software Science<\/a> to consolidate research and development in artificial intelligence. The Center of Excellence brings together the expertise of the university\u2019s research groups and faculties in the field of AI. Its aim is to advance AI-related research and development. At the same time, the FTK provides an interdisciplinary cooperation platform for scientific projects, applied research, and training in the field. TalTech AI works closely with government institutions as well as with the <a href=\"https:\/\/aire-edih.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI and Robotics Development Centre AIRE (AI &amp; Robotics Estonia)<\/a>, linking AI research and development with entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>The mission of the TalTech AI Focus Centre is for TalTech to be a leader in artificial intelligence research in Estonia and in society more broadly.<\/strong> The Focus Centre is an ecosystem within the university that brings together and supports interdisciplinary AI research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TalTech aims to be Estonia\u2019s leading centre for artificial intelligence development, research, and consulting.<\/strong> AI-powered applications help monitor, optimise, and predict resource use and work processes in various fields such as security, healthcare, energy, transport, manufacturing, and the circular economy. By combining AI-based solutions with real-life challenges, we promote a smarter and more sustainable future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Objectives of the TalTech AI Focus Centre<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>To consolidate TalTech\u2019s AI expertise across research groups and faculties.<\/li>\n<li>To promote cross-faculty collaboration in the development of AI science and applications.<\/li>\n<li>To coordinate the provision of AI expertise to other TalTech focus centres.<\/li>\n<li>To act as TalTech\u2019s internal contact point for external cooperation partners and communication in the field of AI.<\/li>\n<li>To provide an interdisciplinary cooperation platform for research projects and applied studies.<\/li>\n<li>To develop international cooperation, including participation in programmes such as Digital Europe and Horizon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Collaboration with TalTech<\/h2>\n<p>The TalTech AI Focus Centre brings together the artificial intelligence research and development activities of research groups and centres across the university\u2019s different faculties into a single contact point. This creates a strong interdisciplinary cooperation platform that supports research and development collaboration within the university, as well as with the public and private sectors and international partners.<\/p>\n<p>The AI Focus Centre coordinates collaborative projects and works closely with the AI and Robotics Development Centre AIRE (AI &amp; Robotics Estonia).<\/p>\n<p>Ongoing
