{"id":5406,"date":"2026-03-31T16:50:29","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T13:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ai.taltech.ee\/?post_type=event&#038;p=5406"},"modified":"2026-03-31T17:03:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T14:03:07","slug":"ai-pilot-project-contest","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/ai.taltech.ee\/en\/events\/ai-pilot-project-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"AI pilot project contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tallinn University of Technology invites <strong>all university staff to submit ideas for using artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching, research, or university processes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have an idea for how AI could simplify your work, improve quality, or save time, this is your opportunity to turn that idea into reality.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the call is to support pilot projects that test AI solutions in a real working environment. <strong>This is not just an idea collection exercise, but a chance to implement your idea.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both early-stage ideas and more developed project proposals are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The program aims to accelerate the adoption of AI at TalTech through practical pilot\u00a0 projects.<\/p>\n<p>Projects are expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>address a specific problem<\/li>\n<li>create measurable value<\/li>\n<li>be piloted within a short timeframe<\/li>\n<li>have potential for scaling within the university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preference is given to projects that can create value across the university, rather than being limited to a single course, unit, or narrowly defined use case.<\/p>\n<h4>Funding<\/h4>\n<p>The total budget for the call is up to \u20ac25,000.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple pilot projects will be funded. The number of projects and individual funding amounts depend on the quality and needs of submitted ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Funding is intended to cover project implementation costs (e.g., development, tools, student involvement, testing).<\/p>\n<p>Indicative funding per project: \u20ac3,000\u2013\u20ac10,000. Smaller projects may also be funded.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Expected Projects<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Practical and feasible pilot projects are expected.<\/p>\n<p>Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AI applications in teaching<\/li>\n<li>automation of work processes<\/li>\n<li>AI-based data analysis<\/li>\n<li>solutions for support services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Eligibility<\/h4>\n<p>Applications may be submitted by TalTech lecturers, researchers, and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Projects can be submitted individually or as a team. A team is not required.<\/p>\n<p>If submitted individually, the feasibility of implementation and the ability to involve necessary support will be assessed separately<\/p>\n<h4>Application Content<\/h4>\n<p>The application should provide a clear overview of the idea but does not need to be a fully developed project.<\/p>\n<p>It should describe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the problem being addressed<\/li>\n<li>the proposed AI solution<\/li>\n<li>where and how the solution will be used<\/li>\n<li>the value the project creates<\/li>\n<li>how the project will be implemented (timeline, team if available)<\/li>\n<li>the requested funding amount<\/li>\n<li>the planned budget use and resource needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If all details are not finalized, an initial description is sufficient.<\/p>\n<h4>Evaluation Criteria<\/h4>\n<p>Applications will be evaluated based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>impact and value for the university<\/li>\n<li>scalability and potential for wider use at TalTech<\/li>\n<li>feasibility and realistic timeline<\/li>\n<li>availability or accessibility of required expertise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Special attention will be given to projects with potential for use across multiple units or at the university-wide level.<\/p>\n<p>Applications will be evaluated by the AI Council. Decisions will be made holistically, considering both impact and diversity of projects.<\/p>\n<h4>Obligations of Selected Projects<\/h4>\n<p>Selected projects are expected to implement the pilot, present results, and share their experience with the university community.<\/p>\n<h4>Timeline<\/h4>\n<p>Application period: March 31 \u2013 April 14<br \/>\nEvaluation: April 14\u201320<br
