This session will be led by <b>Prof. Sander Rikka<\/b>, Senior Researcher at the Division of Modeling and Remote Sensing (Department of Marine Systems), who will give a talk titled: <b>\u201cEstimation of Surface Waves in the Baltic Sea from Satellite Imagery\u201d.<\/b><\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Estimating ocean waves\u00a0 from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data have been an active area of research for decades, as waves play an important role in both weather and ocean forecasting. Satellite missions like Sentinel-1 provide a large-scale, continuous view of the sea surface, offering valuable data for this purpose. In their work, the Division of Modeling and Remote Sensing apply neural networks to estimate one-dimensional wave density spectra from Sentinel-1 SAR image spectra in the Baltic Sea, combining satellite observations with modern machine learning techniques to better understand sea state conditions.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Following the talk there will be a Q&amp;A and networking over coffee and light snacks. The talk part of the seminar will also be broadcast via Teams, but we encourage you to participate in person to take part of the interesting and valuable discussions stemming from the topic. The talk will be held in English.<\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">This seminar will also mark the restart of our monthly AI research open seminar series. Each seminar will feature a different TalTech research group presenting their work, followed by time for informal discussions and networking over coffee and snacks. These gatherings are designed to bring together TalTech\u2019s AI community, encourage collaboration, and increase visibility of ongoing research across the university.<\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0,
